With the holidays drawing near, I find myself looking ahead to 2019 but also reflecting on the year behind us. And what a year it has been! This month Jacobs Injury Law was thrilled to learn that we earned a Tier 1 U.S. News – Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” ranking for Personal Injury Litigation, Plaintiffs. Firms included in the 2019 Edition of “Best Law Firms” are recognized for professional excellence with consistently impressive ratings from clients and peers.
Additionally, it was announced today that I won the Robert L. Habush Trial Lawyer of the Year Award, a distinction that means everything to someone advocating for the rights of the injured! This esteemed award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated strong commitment to the goals for which the Wisconsin Association for Justice (WAJ) was established:
⦁ Promotion of the administration of justice for the public good
⦁ Upholding the honor and dignity of the profession of law
⦁ Upholding the right of trial by jury
⦁ Preserving and enhancing the rights of persons to have access to the Courts and our system of justice, and to afford everyone a full, fair and timely remedy for wrongs done
Award winners must demonstrate exceptional dedication to these goals, and uphold them in various ways, including handling a case involving a significant change in the law or a precedent-setting suit, by their support of WAJ through work in the WAJ organization, pro-bono or other volunteerism that benefited injured consumers, or efforts designed to improve and preserve the American civil justice system. I look forward to personally accepting this award next month, at the at Wisconsin Association for Justice’s annual Winter Conference and President’s Dinner at the Pfister Hotel.
Also today, Superlawyers announced its 2018 lists of attorneys, and I am honored to have been named to Wisconsin Top 50 Attorneys, Milwaukee Top 25 Attorneys, and Top 25 Women Attorneys. Kudos to Jackie Nuckels for being named a Superlawyer as well!
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 17 years since I left the public defender’s office to become a trial attorney in private practice. I knew then that championing for those who have been hurt would drive me to make a difference. Traumatic experiences don’t define who we are. Often, we just need help finding our voice to speak up against injustice. I’m honored to stand up for and alongside the brave individuals who are willing to fight for what they deserve and protect their rights.
So, with the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, I’m grateful. I’m grateful to my partner, Jackie Nuckles for her tireless service and her outstanding devotion to our clients and the law. I’m grateful to the legal community for their ongoing support and recognition. Your referrals mean the world to us. And, most importantly, I’m grateful to our current and potential clients for your trust. Your strength and courage speak volumes. Thank you for inspiring me every day.
